Why Accounting Firms Need to Talk About the Federal Budget
How Testimonials, Reviews & Case Studies Win Clients

It’s a question we hear often from accountants, lawyers and financial planning firms, and it usually comes after someone has seen a competitor pop up on TikTok, or heard a marketing podcast that says you “need to be everywhere.”
The short answer is: yes, you should secure your handles on ALL social media platforms.
But no, you don’t need to be active on every platform.
It’s where most firms burn time, energy, and budget for very little return.
The real question isn’t should you be on all platforms.
It’s why would someone engage with you on that platform in the first place?
Professional services firms often make the mistake of treating all platforms as equal. As if LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok all have the same level of value, intent, and audience behaviour.
Newsflash… They don’t.
Even if your ideal clients use all those platforms, the reason they’re there, and what they want from the experience, is completely different.
Think about it. Someone scrolling Instagram at lunchtime might be looking for a mental break.
It’s highly likely they’re not in the mood for a carousel about tax planning tips.
But that same person, later in the day, might open LinkedIn to learn something or check in with their network. That’s when an insight, short-form video, or industry perspective could actually get their attention.
That’s why social platform selection shouldn’t be a checkbox exercise. It has to start with an understanding of your ideal audience’s intent for being on that platform in the first place.

Most firms are clear on who their audience is, with their personas mapped out. They know their industries, business sizes, and job titles.
But few take the time to understand how their audience behaves online.
Knowing your ideal client is one thing. Knowing how they spend their attention is something else entirely.
And once you understand that, you’ll stop guessing what to post and start building content that actually connects with your audience.
Posting the same thing across every channel might seem efficient. But if it doesn’t feel native to the platform, people ignore it.
LinkedIn rewards written insights, original videos and industry commentary.
Instagram leans more visual. Stories, Reels, behind-the-scenes posts and lifestyle content get more attention.
Facebook skews older and is more community- or event-driven. YouTube is all about depth and searchability.
And TikTok… well, it’s not just for dancing anymore, but still built on fast, engaging, and visually-led content.
It’s not that you can’t repurpose content (you should). But it needs to be adapted to suit the platform, not just copy-pasted and hope for the best.
If you’re asking whether you should claim your brand handles. The answer is yes, absolutely.
But if you’re asking whether you need to be active everywhere: only if you have the time, budget, and team to do it well. And only, ONLY, if your ideal client is active on that platform.
Otherwise, it’s better to show up properly on the 1–2 platforms that matter most to your audience, and do it consistently.
Because digital marketing for accountants, lawyers and financial planners is about showing up in the right places with the right message for the right people… Not about being everywhere.
At Practice + Pixels, we help professional services firms determine where their audience really spends time, and how to show up with social media content that’s actually worth paying attention to.
